From the war in Syria to the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, two sisters embark on a harrowing journey as refugees, heroically using their emotions and skills as champion swimmers.
Reaching one's goals, even, and especially, if they seem impossible because "often inner strength is born out of suffering".
The film tells the story of two sisters: Yusra and Sara Mardini. Trained in swimming since childhood by their father, they dream of participating in the Olympic Games. A wish that seems set to be shattered as their Damascus is now ravaged by war. The only way for them to pursue their dream is therefore to leave everything behind and embark on a painful journey across the Mediterranean to try, in every way possible, to reach the long-awaited Olympic Games in Rio.
